The epidemiological studies on Clonorchiasis in an endemic area (Hakya-ri Hampyung Gan, Choanam Korea. ) were carried out from 25th Sept. to 20th Oct. in 1970. Two hundred ten residents (male 104, female 106) among 857 total -population were sampled for intradermal tests of Clonorchiasis and Paragoni miasis, and for the ova detection of Clonorchis sinensis.
In addition, 78 out of 118 total householders in the area were interviewed to evaluate their food habits and knowledges on distomiasis. The results obtained are as follows
1. In Clonorchiasis, positive rates were 55.7% (male 61.5%, female 50.0%) by intradermal test and 50.0% (male 54.8%, female 45.3%) by egg detection.
2. Ninety three out of 117 intradermal positive reactors (79.5%) were egg-positive and 93 -out of 105 egg-positive cases (88.6%) were positive to intradermal test for Clonorchiasis.
3. In Paragonimiasis, intradermal positive rate was 33.8% (male 47.1%, female 20.0%),
4. Rate of infestation was getting higher with advancing ages and it was lower in young age groups.
